Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in volunteering with the Heartland Tree Alliance? Great! Volunteers are an invaluable part of our efforts to care for the urban forest of the Kansas City area. Volunteers of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to come to any of our events, unless otherwise noted. Upcoming events are listed below. Tree Keepers
This is a series of five classes that covers everything from tree identification and species selection to urban soils, planting, pruning and diagnosing tree problems. Participants are asked to commit to volunteer a total of 24 hours with HTA once they complete the series. Classes are taught by area foresters and arborists.

Be part of the solution to climate change! The City of Kansas City, Missouri is undertaking a climate protection plan that includes the goal of planting 120,000 trees in public right-of-way areas. The identification of available planting sites is needed. Heartland Tree Alliance offers a wonderful opportunity to be part of this ambitious, important effort. Tree Care Workdays
Dates To Be Announced
Tree Care Workdays are open to the public and no experience is necessary. Volunteers will help mulch young trees on public property. Heartland Tree Alliance serves seven counties (Missouri- Jackson, Platte, Clay, Cass; Kansas- Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth) and events are held throughout the area. Planting Events
Open to the public. No experience necessary; training will be provided. Open to all ages.

- KCK/UG Arbor Day, Friday, April 30th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Possible dates to be added. Open to the public, our planting events offer volunteers of all ages the opportunity to join us at an area park as we plant trees for the community. HTA Socials
Open to the public. Typically, each social has a program and provides opportunity for volunteers and interested volunteers to get to know each other. Date and location TBA.
